PUBG celebrates first anniversary with free weapon skin

PUBG is putting the recently added weapon skin system to good use by unleashing a freebie for everyone to celebrate its first anniversary.

The limited edition weapon skin is for the SCAR L and is being given away to all who log into the game until May 1. According to the official announcement, there are a few things to note. The skin is neither tradable and nor destructible. It’s there to commemorate the one-year journey.

A lot of things have happened in the world of PUBG in the last year. On the 23rd of March, 2017, we launched on Steam Early Access and so many of you have joined us in the best Battle Royale experience out there.

“Throughout our journey, we went from a pre-alpha build that only a few select players knew about to one of the most popular games in videogame history,” said PUBG Corp. “We achieved this only with your support and generosity! It’s hard to express the kind of gratitude we feel for our players. For some things there are no right words.”

Players who have taken a break from PUBG for whatever reason may find that weapon skins are a new feature to them. The ability to customize your weapon cosmetics was talked about in the roadmap for 2018, and it is good to see them making progress towards their goals as they combat Fortnite, their main rival, for players.

Elsewhere, it was recently suggested that the developer might disable the use of third-party devices such as keyboards and mice for the Xbox One version of the game. If this comes to play, it will be to ensure a balanced playing field where everyone is using controllers, with no one having access to enhanced precision and control that comes with the desktop peripherals.
