Starting from today, the purchase of every single HTC Vive unit will include a free copy of Fallout 4 VR. Since the virtual reality take on the latest installment in the post-apocalyptic franchise will launch in December, owners of the premium virtual reality headset will not get access right away. They can wait though, and be happy that they saved themselves a full retail price for the upcoming game.
“The promise of a game with near endless content, including hundreds of locations, characters, and quests, fully playable in VR, is something that we have been focused on providing for the VR gaming community,” Vive Studios Joel Breton said in a statement. “We are now thrilled to provide this incredible game to new Vive owners and eagerly look forward to game’s launch on Vive this December.”
There is no clarification regarding how long the offer will remain valid for. Perhaps there is a limited stock for Fallout 4 VR or the company will wrap up the deal once the game launches at the end of the year. HTC will hopefully provide more details in the coming days.
In the mean time, Bethesda Softworks is bringing out more than one virtual reality game this year. Skyrim VR is scheduled to launch on November 17. DOOM VR is another entry in the same lineup that is pegged for release on December 1. Fallout 4 VR will then follow on December 12, right after the conclusion of PlayStation Experience (PSX).
HTC Vive is currently priced at $600 in the United States, following a price cut this year. Owners will receive the headset and two controllers.
