The Nintendo Switch already features limited storage capacity. Hence, those interested in purchasing FIFA 18 later this year on the hybrid console should be aware that the installation size is close to 15 GB. It is also important to note that post-release content support and updates may demand additional space on the hard drive.
The Nintendo Switch version of FIFA 18 was tailored by the developer according to requirements and limitations. In comparison, the new installment in the football simulation franchise boasts an installation file size of almost 50 GB on PC and fairly similar on the other two consoles. The diminished installation requirement for the Nintendo Switch is because the specific version has been stripped off several features such as the single-player campaign, The Journey.
That being said, FIFA 18 will take advantage of the hybrid and on-the-go features of the Switch. The game will run at 1080p in docked mode and 720p on the handheld.
Electronic Arts (EA) previously stated that the success of FIFA 18 on the Nintendo Switch will decide if the publisher should bring more games to the platform. The decision may sound harsh but is based from a “resource standpoint.” Consider this the first and only time that EA is placing faith in the Japanese company.
FIFA 18 is scheduled to officially launch worldwide on September 29 for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, Xbox One, Xbox 360, Nintendo Switch, and PC.
