The single-player campaign of Destiny 2 reportedly takes around twelve hours to complete. This includes sixteen action-packed acts in total that pit players against the main antagonist Dominus Ghaul, military emperor of the Cabal Empire, and his mighty Red Legion.
Destiny 2 officially released earlier today and streamers have been broadcasting their gameplay since then. The length of the single-player campaign is based on the average of their completion rates.
Everyone is hailing the sequel as a major improvement over the original installment. That being said, a twelve-hour campaign mode might sound underwhelming for some. Take note that you can always sink in time in other activities such as Strikes and player-versus-player action. Destiny 2 is, after all, a multiplayer experience at its core.
There is also the option of running the single-player campaign in cooperative mode. Take note that you are not required to complete the entire story-line before pairing up with friends. You just need to go through the opening acts of the game on your own.
The original Destiny received severe criticism over a lackluster story mode and scarcity of content afterwards. Bungie promised that the sequel will fare better and the core focus of the development team is always on keeping the player busy.
Destiny 2 is now available for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. The PC version was pushed back slightly to allow the developer more time for polishing purposes. It should not be considered as a mere port since Bungie has repeatedly assured that the PC version of Destiny 2 is being built from the ground up to cater to PC-specific needs.
