Crackdown 3 Is Facing Slight Development Issues, Claims Industry Insider

Following the cancellation of Scalebound, many have begun wondering as to whether Crackdown 3 will also face a similar grim end.

According to industry insider shinobi602, Crackdown 3 is “coming along fine”. However, he clarified that the game’s development has not been smooth at all. It too is facing a rough time with persistent technical issues. Though, the hurdles are nothing like Scalebound. Hence, there’s little reason to worry that the game will also be scrapped by Microsoft.

The upcoming open-world action-adventure title was announced by Microsoft during its E3 2014 press conference. Since then, Crackdown 3 has more or less maintained radio silence. We haven’t heard much about about the game for quite some time from either developer or publisher.

The most recent details regarding Crackdown 3 arrived last month during an Extra Life livestream. Microsoft Studios art director Dave Johnson confirmed the game for a release in holiday 2017 “or earlier”. He also stated that it will support 4K resolution on Project Scorpio. No other details were shared.

Prior to that, Xbox boss Phil Spencer went on record to state that he personally has seen the latest build of the game and it looks good. He assured fans that Crackdown 3 retains the iconic look of the series.

Crackdown 3 is in development for Xbox One and PC. As mentioned above, a concrete release date is yet to be confirmed. We’re expecting the game to be showcased during Microsoft’s presentation at E3 2017. That being said, the cancellation of Scalebound has riled up everyone. Perhaps it would be a good move for Microsoft to talk a bit about Crackdown 3 to put everyone at ease.

It goes without saying that the scrapping of the game will go down as a major blow for not only Xbox One but also its player-base.
