GTA Online Holiday Event Brings Back Snowball Fights

A holiday event update went live for GTA Online last night, commencing celebration of the Christmas season in full swing.

For the duration of the event, the city of Los Santos and its surrounding areas will be covered in falling snow. As such, snowball fights have returned for the community. Each one can stock up on a maximum of nine snowballs to throw at other players.

Rockstar Games also released a new Adversary mode titled Juggernaut which is an “all-out brawl for dominance” with players boasting heavy armor and chainguns. According to a blog post from the developer, the attacking side must flank, swarm and successfully execute the defending side’s heavily-reinforced Juggernaut.

“If your team is unable to wipe out the opposition’s Juggernaut in time, Sudden Death rules go into effect and everyone becomes a Juggernaut,” reads the explanation. “First kill wins though, so you’ll want to be aggressive in trying to take first blood.”

The holiday event also means that you can earn double the amount of GTA$ and RP through January 1. Elsewhere in the update, Rockstar Games released a custom version of the Pfister Comet that’s been morphed into a “gritty urban dragster suitable for the rough-riding drifters of Los Santos.” You can find the vehicle at Benny’s Original Motor Works.

Furthermore, logging in on Christmas Day (December 25) will net you a unicorn mask and pajamas, either the White Graphic or Blue Check items. Players also receive the following ammunition for logging in:

  • Fireworks Launcher plus 10 Fireworks rockets
  • Carbine Rifle plus 200 rounds of Ammo
  • Marksman Rifle plus 200 rounds of Ammo
  • Basic Knuckle Dusters
  • 25 Sticky Bombs
  • 25 Grenades
  • 5 Proximity Mines
  • 5 Molotovs
  • Full Snacks
  • Full Armor

Last year, parent company Take-Two Interactive confirmed that GTA Online featured over 8 million players on a weekly basis. That number has since then not been updated but is likely to have increased. Take-Two president Strauss Zelnick registered a year-over-year growth for GTA Online only last month.
