Deus Ex: Mankind Divided Launches on PC With Several Technical and Performance Issues

Deus Ex: Mankind Divided is just another game launched on PC with numerous issues that need to be addressed as soon as possible.

Based on several user-reviews posted on Steam and Reddit, the PC version of Mankind Divided is unable to provide a consistent frame-rate. Even on high-end rigs, the game continues to display low frame-rates while in some areas the FPS count can drop to as low as 15. These “areas” so to speak are riddled with other issues as well. Several of these sites can cause your game to instantly crash as soon as you step within view.

The game has annoying mouse acceleration that cannot be disabled from the menu, enforcing you to ditch your raw input. The movement animation is quite strange since walking, sprinting, and crouching can sometimes not register properly. What looks to be a bug can also get your character stuck in an endless loop of entering and exiting cover. Similarly there are other issues with the PC version as well.

Eidos Montreal has posted an update on its official site, acknowledge many of the reported issues and promising a fix soon.

Performance Issues
If you are experiencing performance issues, here are a few workarounds you can try out for now:

  • Update your drivers
  • Turn off MSAA
  • Turn off Contact Hardening Shadows
  • Keep Volumetric Lighting to on or off
  • If you have a 4GB GPU, use settings up to High
  • Use 1080p resolution
  • Enable Exclusive Fullscreen

Crash on startup
This issue is currently under investigation.

Crash at the Train Station
This issue is currently under investigation.

Here are workarounds which have worked for some users:

  • Lower the graphic settings
  • Deselect DLC content from the game’s properties in the library
  • Run the game in windowed mode
  • Turn off subtitles

Mouse Acceleration
This issue is currently under investigation.

The game’s option menu doesn’t display the settings correctly. Players should ignore what they are seeing in the menu and use what they are noticing in-game.
A fix is coming for this issue.

Unfortunately there is no word on when the update will arrive. It’s possible that the developer is going to release a hotfix in the coming days to address the mouse acceleration issue. However, large problems such as inconsistent frame-rates are probably going to be taken care of with a large patch later on.
