Ana, the mother of Pharah, has been announced by Blizzard as the next playable character in Overwatch.
Just as earlier rumors stated, Ana excels as a sniper support character who is capable of healing and providing other utility support from long range.
Armed with a Biotic rifle, Ana can both heal allies and do “ongoing damage” to enemies. Her list of skills include a sleep dart that can temporarily put enemies to sleep, a Biotic grenade that can heal or damage in a wide area, and the Nano Boost ultimate ability that can bestow bonus movement speed, attack, and defense on allies.
Her announcement carried no release date from Blizzard, but the developer has teased that she will be added to the current roster soon.
In related news, Blizzard has decided to limit heroes in its recently released Competitive Play mode to just one. This means that a team cannot spam a single character in every Overwatch match with multiple selections, and will instead have to choose a different Hero for each human player.
The big thing for Competitive Play is we’re going to turn on one-hero limit, so players will not be able to stack more than one of the same hero within a Competitive match. It’s not going to affect Quick Play at all, but it is something we’re going to turn on for Competitive.
